At a time when we are all highly aware of our vulnerabilities and can hardly stop our self-reflection, the artist book – one of the most self-reflective mediums there is – comes into a new focus!

The show “The Body and the Book” presents a wide range of works:
 
Veronika Schäpers - "das müssen sie mir erst einmal beweisen" (first you have to prove that to me) – a story by Heiko Michael Hartmann from the perspective of a conspiracy theorist, with original photograms of purported healing methods



Robbin Ami Silverberg - "I can´t breathe / à bout de souffle" links political, social, virus-related and emotionally threatening situations of constriction



Boush Musa / Thorsten Baensch - "from Darfur to Brussels & England". Migration, flight, documented, painted …



Stefan Gunnesch - "Der Fall Anna O." - a story of body and soul



Thorsten Baensch & Christine Dupuis - "Cookbook" - “Cookbook” is based on an endless collection of recipes from visitors, a cookbook project with a single shared aim: eating.
On Wednesday, 6 October, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the artists will be presenting their “Kitchen – La cuisine transportable” at the gallery! Invitation here!




Romano Hänni - "Iti Amotytoma Muxum - Ein Lehrbuch für Typographie aus Utopia" - (Iti Amotytoma Muxum – A textbook for typography from utopia) – here the subject is the body of the book, or typography and hand printing – and utopia



Patrizia Meinert - Michel Serres "Carte d´Identité"
a folded book with body print – according to Serres, the skin is a landscape that is marked by the traces of life



Carina Hesper - "Like a pearl in my hand" - black pages with portraits of abandoned children that literally only become visible through physical attention



Clifton Meador - "Victory Defeat" -  an embodiment of power



Carola Willbrand - "Käfig, Erinnerungen Hellblau, Erinnerung grau"
(Cage, memory light blue, memory gray) – a performative, installation-like connection between body and book, a stole concealing the two books

Robbin Ami Silverberg - "Living with Tassels & Trim" 
A memory work, a textile book hidden in a splendid piece of clothing



Burgi Kühnemann - "Wolfshunger" - (Hungry as a wolf), a radical adaptation of the Little Red Riding Hood story
