Deeg, Daniela / Lollis, Cynthia: Innere Landschaften / Interior Landscapes
Innere Landschaften / Interior Landscapes started as a suite of prints about living spaces. Silhouettes of domestic
objects were screenprinted onto found wallpaper. The objects reveal landscapes within. These
photographs were made in and around an urban greenspace along the Neckar River in Ludwigsburg,
Germany. Five years later, when COVID-19 made it impossible to travel, the artists reimagined these
prints as a book. The original drawings for their screenprint films were merged with text by Friedrich
Hölderlin, an 18th century poet from the same region. Working from their homes during lockdown, the
artists felt a connection to the poet who lived out his last years in isolation. Hölderlin spent each day at his
small window in a tower overlooking the Neckar and surrounding fields.
