Meyer, G. / Penndorf, J. / Maltzahn-Lietz, U. / Respondek-Tschersich, N. / Grebner, I. / Zwirnmann, K. / Neubert, F. / Schuppenhauer, P.: Die Gedanken sind frei Thoughts are free,
who can guess them?
They flee by
like shadows in the night.
No one can know them,
no hunter can shoot them,
it remains so—
Thoughts are free!

The message of the song “Thoughts Are Free” is timeless. There are numerous interpretations and numerous occasions on which the song has been and continues to be sung. We also wanted to give the song a new look, complementing the singing with visual interpretations. We selected two of the song's five verses and juxtaposed them with Arthur Kevess' English version, which was written in 1966. Each book is accompanied by a unique found object on the theme of freedom – chance finds, but also photographs and items from the personal possessions of each individual.
