Lavater, Warja: BÂTON… ROND… ET BOUFFON… NOMMÉ VIRGULE
“This sculptured book starts with a stick.” Warja Lavater’s Baton Rond et Buouffon, or Stick Halo and Kick, is a vertically sculpted book that unfolds to envision a tale of a solitary stick who soon finds itself surrounded by millions of hovering halos, only to be left alone again by the end. As the narrative builds and dissolves, the shape and size of the pages transform; characters are described minimally – in lines, circles, and squiggles – and interact with one another in carefully choreographed movements. One of 500 signed copies, this original color lithography is starkly represented in four colors: white, blue, and brown, with subtle glimpses of floating red.
