Dine, Jim: The World
The author's statement explains that the image was the result of a number of sketches executed over several trips to visit Milosz at Dartmouth College. "At the end I put the drawings on top of each other and pulled a composite picture of the poet from the soup." These poems by Czeslaw Milosz 1911-2004 , the Polish-American poet and winner of the Nobel Prize, were written in Warsaw in 1943 and are considered his best.
